KL’s street markets are the best places to experience authentic Malaysian culture. These lively and vibrant street markets offer a dizzying array of handicrafts, accessories, jewellery, fresh produce, apparel, materials and supplies of all sorts at great bargains. Usually open from sunrise till past midnight, these bazaars are always packed with locals and tourists alike. Hop from one to another: Petaling Street, Kasturi Walk, Chow Kit Market, Kampung Baru Market, and Taman Connaught Night Market are some of the famous ones worth visiting.

The night markets or more commonly known as Pasar Malam are a maze of items ranging from local produce to apparel. The best part about shopping here is to snack on local delicacies while shopping at the same time.

Out from the hustle and bustle of the cities, Langkawi is a shopping haven for serious shopaholics. Chocolates, wines, shoes, watches, cosmetics, and perfumes are all duty-free! Although it’s easy to lose yourself with the savings potential of duty-free shopping, do check your home country’s regulations for purchase limitations!

An hour’s drive away from KL, Malacca a declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008 is rich with antiques and rare collectibles. Jonker Street although famous for its mouth watering food stalls is also full of shops selling trinkets, local artwork and rare collectibles like old coins, bank notes, porcelain, and unusual toys.
